Carmen Ho

Professional Art Therapist

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and a Professional Member of BC Art Therapy Association. I completed my Master of Counselling Psychology: Art Therapy from Adler University. This degree means I have skills to practice both traditional talk therapy and art therapy.

Expression, communication, and the need to be understood, are vital components of life. These are the basis of human interaction. My love for art making stemmed from an early age; I always found comfort in creating. When I came across the opportunity to use this joy and passion that I have for creativity and art making, to be able to help others with expression and seeking wellness, I knew I had found my path. Art making can be a powerful tool to aid in expression, especially for people who otherwise have difficulty communicating. I want to help build awareness in our community of different modes of communication, which in my practice, can include movement and gesture, art making, and play. My goal is to help reduce the limitations, that people who have difficulty connecting with their emotions verbally, may face when expressing themselves. I practice with an eclectic approach to help best care for and meet each individual’s needs.
I enjoy doing yoga regularly, and try to incorporate and introduce breathing and meditation skills, as well as gentle movement and mindfulness into our sessions when it is appropriate. On an average day, I find joy in tending to my little garden of plants, a warm cup of tea, going for a nice walk in the forest, and listening to music while making some art.
